This is the branding and styling for No Fly Zone Esports. An esports org built from the ground up. The brand has a big focus on accessibility and fan interaction.

Everything about this brand was built completely from the ground up, using inspiration from existing brands such as TSM, C9, and CLG. The main goal was to use my knowledge of Esports as not only a fan, but someone who has competed in tournaments in the past, to create a team that not only can stand on their own in a competiative league, but can also draw in a large and dedicated base of fans.

One of the most difficult tasks of an Esports team is not only to win matches and compete at the absolute highest level, it is also to maintain their fans. Unlike traditional sports teams, Esports do not have built in regional followers. The only way for teams to accrue fans is either through their players or a strong branding and marketing presence. With so few players per team it is very important to focus and branding and design to keep fans through many different team iterations. It is very easy for someone to simply be a fan of the players rather than a fan of the team. That is why it’s important to create merchandise and branding that fans identify with and to keep star players that will draw in fans to keep coming back.

Working on this project has made me think about not only designing for teams in the digital space, but also how those designs need to work when presented in a physical space as well such as on screens, posters, and merchandise. Everything done with these designs must have not only the players, but the fans in mind as well.
The purpose of a team is not only to win tournements, but to win over the fans as well.
